Diagnosis is faster when the person on the phone already knows your string layout and does not have to be told what was installed.

Most people will not, which is how warranties quietly expire unclaimed. Claims are raised on your behalf.

Expiry dates matter far more than warranty length. A claim raised in year eleven and one raised in year thirteen are very different outcomes.

Most after-sales promises in Pakistani solar are one line in a quotation — "free after-sales service" — with nothing behind it: no response time, no defined coverage, no named person. It costs nothing to write and it is worth nothing to hold.
What I commit to is narrower and actually keepable. The engineer who designed and commissioned your system is the person who answers when you call. Generation checks, fault diagnosis and manufacturer warranty claims are included on projects I deliver, rather than sold to you afterwards as a service contract.
What I do not publish, and why
I do not publish a guaranteed response time in hours. I could — it would read well on this page and it would cost nothing to type. But I am one engineer, and a number I cannot honour on the week I happen to be commissioning a plant in Vehari is worse than no number at all, because you would have made a decision on it.
What I will do is tell you honestly, in the assessment conversation and before you commit, what my availability realistically looks like and what happens when I am on another site. If you need a guaranteed emergency response, you need a company with a standby rota — and you should have one, rather than a promise from me that would not survive contact with a bad week.
Warranties come from the manufacturer, not from me
This distinction matters and is often blurred. Your panels and inverters are warranted by the companies that made them — typically 12 years product and 25 to 30 years performance on tier-one modules, and typically 5 to 10 years on inverters with an extension usually available at the point of purchase rather than later.
What I add is that you get the paperwork, I keep the register with the expiry dates, and I raise claims on your behalf. That is genuinely valuable, because most owners will not chase a manufacturer claim themselves — and a warranty nobody claims is indistinguishable from no warranty.
An installer who implies the warranty is theirs is either confused or hoping you are. Ask whose warranty it is and what happens to it if they cease trading.
What actually goes wrong, in order of likelihood
- Nothing dramatic — output drifts down as the array soils. Cleaning, not a fault.
- An inverter trips and nobody notices for days. This is the expensive one, and it is why monitoring somebody reads matters more than most equipment decisions.
- A string goes down — a connector, a blown fuse, occasionally a failed module. Sharp drop in one string, obvious in data, invisible from the ground.
- Grid-side disturbance causing nuisance tripping. Frequently a settings question rather than a hardware fault.
- Actual module failure. Rare, and this is where the manufacturer warranty and a maintained register earn their place.
Notice that the first four are not equipment failures. Most of what an owner experiences as "the solar is not working properly" is soiling, an unnoticed trip or a single string — which is why after-sales is mostly a monitoring and diagnosis service rather than a repair service.
Systems installed by someone else
I do take on support for systems I did not build, usually where the original installer has become unreachable. It starts with an inspection, because I cannot be accountable for a system I have not seen — and that first visit quite often reveals that the ongoing problem is a design fault rather than a support gap, which is a different and more useful thing to know.

- Will you support a system another company installed?
- Yes, starting with an inspection — I cannot be accountable for a system I have not seen. It is a common enquiry, usually because the original installer has become unreachable. That first inspection frequently establishes that the recurring problem is a design fault rather than a lack of support, which is more useful to know than any amount of ongoing service would have been.
- What happens if my inverter fails after the warranty expires?
- You pay for the replacement, and I will tell you honestly whether replacing that unit or reconfiguring the plant is the better decision at that point. This is also the argument for taking the extended warranty at the point of purchase where one is offered — it is usually much cheaper then than the out-of-warranty replacement later, and it cannot normally be bought retrospectively.
