The equipment I specify, and where each one is the wrong choice
I take no margin on any of this and no commission from any manufacturer, so there is nothing here I am being paid to prefer. That is what makes the second half of each entry — where the product is the wrong answer — worth reading.

Chosen for
The temperature coefficient. Modules are rated at 25°C and a Punjab summer sits far above that, so the loss per degree matters more here than in the European markets these products are designed around. N-Type loses less per degree and degrades more slowly than P-Type, and in this heat that premium is usually recovered over the life of the array.
Where it is the wrong choice
Flush-mounted domestic rooftops close to a dark surface. Bifacial modules collect on the rear face from reflected light, so they earn their premium on a high-clearance mount over a light-coloured roof and earn very little bolted flat above dark concrete. On that roof I specify monofacial and explain why.

SUN2000 range, domestic through commercial
Chosen for
Grid tolerance and monitoring quality. Voltage and frequency excursions are ordinary in Pakistan and the inverter has to ride through them rather than nuisance-tripping off every time the supply wobbles. The monitoring produces exportable data, which matters because a performance claim nobody can export is a performance claim nobody can check — including mine.
Where it is the wrong choice
Sites where local service presence is thin and response time is critical. An inverter with a long warranty and no serviceable presence within reach is a long warranty you will spend on shipping.

Domestic and small commercial, including hybrid units where storage is justified
Chosen for
Service availability in Pakistan and a sensible hybrid range. Where a client has a genuine outage case, specifying a hybrid unit at design stage costs far less than retrofitting storage onto an inverter that was never chosen for it.
Where it is the wrong choice
Megawatt-scale plant where I want string-level redundancy across multiple large units. That is a different sizing conversation and usually a different product class.

SOLIS
125 kW units, deployed in pairs on the 1 MW Simta Foods plant
Chosen for
Redundancy economics at scale. Two 125 kW units instead of one larger inverter costs slightly more and means a single fault takes out part of the plant rather than all of it. On a megawatt that trade is clearly worth making.
Where it is the wrong choice
Systems around 150 kW and below, where splitting the load rarely justifies the extra cost — the consequence of a single fault is proportionally smaller. At 143 kW I specified a single unit for exactly that reason.

LiFePO4 only
Chosen for
Cycle life and thermal behaviour in Pakistani ambient temperatures. Where storage is genuinely justified — a real outage cost, a large unshiftable evening load, or a site currently burning diesel — LiFePO4 is the only chemistry I will specify.
Where it is the wrong choice
Arbitrage cases. Storing a unit rather than exporting it at the buyback rate has to cover the cost of the storage over its cycle life, and on current prices it frequently does not. This is the most common reason I talk a client out of a battery.

Warranty terms are the manufacturer's rather than mine, and you receive the paperwork — I keep the register and raise claims on your behalf.
Deliberately absent
What you will not find in a specification from me
- Lead-acid batteries
- Still appears in cheap quotations and should not. Under solar cycling duty in this heat it reaches end of life far sooner than its headline price suggests. Costed per usable kilowatt-hour over life rather than per kilowatt-hour installed, it is usually the more expensive option.
- Unnamed or white-label modules
- "550W panels" is not a specification. If a quotation will not name the make and model before contract, the reason is usually that naming it would invite questions about what is actually being delivered.
- Painted mild steel structure where the site warrants better
- A 25-year decision, not a cosmetic one. Structure material and gauge is one of the first things quietly cut from a fixed-price quotation, and it is a rust problem you meet in year six rather than on handover.
- A single brand on every job
- I do not have one. The module that suits a high-clearance industrial mount in Vehari is not automatically the module for a Lahore rooftop. If a consultant recommendation never varies with the site, the recommendation is not about the site.
Questions
What clients ask about equipment
- Which solar panels are best for Pakistan?
- The ones with the lowest temperature coefficient your budget supports, which in practice means N-Type over P-Type. Modules are rated at 25°C and Punjab summers sit far above that, so output loss per degree above rating matters more here than in the markets these products are designed for. A cheaper P-Type module can be the more expensive system over its life, because it loses most in exactly the conditions where you generate most.
- Are bifacial solar panels worth it?
- On the right mount, yes. A bifacial module collects on its rear face from light reflected off the surface beneath it, so it earns its premium on a high-clearance structure over a light-coloured roof or ground. Flush-mounted close to dark concrete it earns very little and you are paying for physics that is not happening. The mounting geometry decides it, not the module.
- Which solar inverter brand is most reliable in Pakistan?
- Reliability here is less about the brand ranking than about grid tolerance and local service presence. Voltage and frequency excursions are ordinary in Pakistan, so the inverter has to ride through them rather than nuisance-tripping. And an inverter with a 10-year warranty and no serviceable presence within reach is a 10-year warranty you will spend on shipping. I work mainly with GoodWe, Huawei and SOLIS, chosen by size and redundancy requirement rather than by a general ranking.
- Do you get a commission from these manufacturers?
- No. I take no margin on equipment and no commission from any supplier or manufacturer — every original invoice reaches you in the supplier own name. That is exactly what makes this list worth reading: I have no financial reason to prefer one module over another, so when I tell you the cheaper option is the right call for your roof, there is no version of the story where I am better off for saying it.
- What if I want a brand you have not listed?
- Tell me and I will look at it properly. This list is what I currently specify, not a closed panel — the criteria are temperature coefficient and warranty terms for modules, grid tolerance and serviceable presence for inverters, and cycle life for storage. If a product you are considering meets those, my having not used it before is not an objection. If it does not, I will show you which criterion it fails.
